Should the fence be installed prior to December 2012, the fence needs to be in safe and working order. The old regulation will then apply to this fence which is less pedantic than the new regulation.
In the case where the fence has been installed post December 2012 the following regulations will apply:
- A maximum of 3m between posts,
- An earth spike to be installed every 30m,
- Signage to be installed at various points,
- The conductors (wire) to be terminated correctly by means of ferrule or solder,
- The fence to be in safe working order,
- Certificate valid for 2 years from date of issue.
- All live connections must be above 1.5meters or protected by a barrier,
- All joints to be correctly bonded or soldered,
- Foliage to be removed from the wires,
- All under gate cables to be installed in conduit piping.
