Herewith a description of the aspects that are deemed non-compliant:
- Flexi (rubber) hose is not allowed to be embedded in floors and/or pass through walls even if it is in a sleeve.
- Copper pipe is not allowed to be installed in critical areas, i.e. areas where normal ventilation does not exist (e.g. roof cavaties).
- Flexi (rubber) hose is not allowed to be longer than 2 meters even if the cylinder is positioned inside the house.
- Flexi (rubber) hose is not allowed to be T-off to connect more than 1 appliance.
- The Flexi (rubber) hose is no longer allowed to be used to connect a regulator fitted outside the building. A wire braided hose (pigtail) which is connected to an inline regulator has to be used.
- The 9kg cylinder must not be positioned in the same cupboard compartment as the hob. It should be placed either in a separate compartment or at least 30cm away from unit.
- Provision must be made for ventilation in the cupboard in which the cylinder is stored.
- Provision for permanent ventilation (air bricks) in the room where the appliance is installed.
- No emergency/isolation cut-off valve is installed at the appliance.
- The electrical connection for the hob is in the same compartment as the hob.
- The electrical connection for the stove/hob is in the same compartment as the cut-off valve.
- The cylinder position not at least 1 meter away from openings to the house such as windows, doors etc.
- The cylinder position not at least 2 meters away from openings to underground waste/drainage pipes.
- The cylinder is positioned closer than 5 meters to flammable materials and/or an electrical source, i.e. air conditioner, distribution board, pumps.
- No sleeve installed where the copper pipe passes through the wall.
- Incorrect rubber hose not to be used to connect appliance and regulator.
- The copper pipe on the outside to be adequately secured to the walls.
- The copper pipe which is surfaced mounted on the outside must be correctly colour coded .
- The type of rubber hoses (pigtails) which connect the cylinders to the pipeline must be approved by SABS (it should be wire braided).
- A leak test must not indicate that a gas leak(s) exist(s) on the LPG pipeline.
- The quantity of gas stored inside the house (48kg cylinder) must not exceed the legal maximum quantity of 19kg.
